History

The Healing Tree Performing Arts Project was founded by Elena Correia, an internationally recognized vocalist and educator, and the parent of a child on the autism spectrum. Rooted in both professional expertise and lived experience, The Healing Tree was created in response to a critical need for accessible, inclusive, and arts-centered programming for children and adults with Autism and related support needs.

What began as a vision—to unite arts education and therapy within a conservatory-style model — has grown into a comprehensive, scalable program designed to serve communities in South Florida and Southern California, with the capacity to expand nationally.

Our Mission

The Healing Tree Performing Arts Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for children, teens, and adults with Autism, mental health challenges, Down syndrome, and other developmental, physical, or emotional disabilities. By integrating performing arts education with evidence-based creative arts therapies, we provide a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where participants discover their voice, build self-worth, develop essential life skills, and experience the joy of creative expression.
